Club Runs

Club runs take place on most Sundays throughout the year.  We meet at High Wycombe Guildhall, 1 Cornmarket HP11 2AX at 9am for a 9.10 start.

All are welcome to ride with us.  If you are not a member, but would like to ride with us regularly, we will ask you to join the club.

Clun runs are social affairs, though to get the most out of them you should be reasonably fit and capable of riding 50+ miles.

Rides are usually about 50 to 60 miles with a café stop, though some rides are over 70 miles.  The average speed is 15 to 17mph (24 to 27kph).

We ride as a close group, two abreast where it’s safe.  We regroup at the tops of hills, or if the bunch gets broken up for any reason.  No one gets left behind.  They are a great way to learn how to ride in a bunch.

If you are a member, please wear your club kit – it looks great.

There are easier rides for beginners that are based on Thame.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to ask permission to join your rides?

No, just turn up, introduce yourself and ride.

Is there more than one group on a Sunday?

Sometimes there are enough riders for us to split into a ‘training’ group and a ‘café’ group.

Is there anywhere to park if I drive to the Guildhall?

There is free parking in the High Street on Sundays.

Do I have to use a road bike?

We would strongly recommend that you do and that it’s in good working order.

Do I have to have mud guards in bad weather?

We don’t insist on it, though the rider behind you might.

Do I need insurance?

You should accept responsibility for your own conduct and safety (including the safety of your bicycle and other equipment) during Club activities.  You take part in Club rides entirely at your own risk.  We strongly recommend that you take out third party insurance for your own sake.  Membership of British Cycling or the CTC can offer you this form of cover and you’re supporting cycling in this country too.

What equipment do I need to bring?

Bring two inner tubes and patches, a pump, some money, a phone, food and drink.
